Bronwen Jones - Biography

Bronwen is the Headteacher of the Bill Yule Adolescent Unit at The Bethlem Royal Hospital, London. She first trained as a teacher in New Zealand 35 years ago and went on to develop her career in Australia where she undertook the management of services for the Royal Society for the Blind of South Australia and Northern Territory.

During that time Bronwen took up post graduate studies for a PhD in the Department of Community Medicine and acted as an advisor to the Australian Government and the ABC on disability and special education. Returning to London in 1992 she worked in mainstream secondary and primary schools in inner London, before taking up the post of Teacher in Charge of Greenwich Primary PRU. From 1999 she has been working as a Headteacher in secondary Special Needs schools within the London area. Bronwen is currently working with adolescents who have a diagnosed psychiatric illness and have involvement with the youth criminal justice system, within a medium secure setting.
